Through a case study bulk carrier design, the project highlights the collaborative impact of energy-saving technologies on enhancing efficiency and cutting emissions within the shipping sector.Central to Project CHEK is the development of a digital model, tailored for next-generation vessels such as the Kamsarmax and Meraviglia. This digital model draws insights from operational data of existing vessels to optimize performance and minimize emissions through advanced digital design strategies.

Webinar #1 - Decarbonising Shipping

The first webinar was conducted successfully on 10th December 2021. The webinar highlighted the aims, approaches and initial results.

There are three speakers in this webinar:

1. Suvi Karirinne, Director, VEBIC, University of Vaasa (Project Coordinator) presented the project overview, introduced project partners and considerations behind CHEK.

2. Mia Elg, Head of Research and Development, Deltamarin presented the digital modeling and the development of the Future-Proof Vessel (FPV) design platform and the utilization to apply all major ship types.

3. Yildiz Williams, Lead Marine Consultant, Lloyd’s Register presented the framework conditions and future work.
