The simulator will show the energy savings and emissions reduction of the CHEK vessels. Therefore, the vessels’ energy consumption (MJ) and emissions of (ton) will be calculated. The percentage (%) of energy and emissions reduction is the comparison results of CHEK combo and future vessels with the baseline vessels.
Some simple formulas are used in order to estimate the energy consumption and emissions.
energy consumption = fuel consumption * lower heating value
amount of emission = fuel consumption * emission factor
The data needed for the emissions simulator is: (i) lower heating value of marine fuels to estimate the energy consumption (Table 1), (ii) fuel consumption and fuel types for each scenario and route, and (iii) emission factors of fuels (Table 2 and Table 3).
The baseline cruise vessel the CHEK combo use HFO and MDO as marine fuels. The future vessel use green H2 without any support fuels.
Baseline vessel was calibrated based on historical profiles and existing ship design and is calculated relative to the EEDI Phase II reference line.
CHEK combo has optimized hull form, air lubrication system, ultrasound anti-fouling system, automated route optimization, hybrid propulsion system and waste heat recovery system.
The future cruise vessel uses green hydrogen, optimized hull form, air lubrication system, waste-to-energy system, ultrasound anti-fouling system, automated route optimization, hybrid propulsion system and waste heat recovery system.
