Project CHEK: Decarbonizing long distance shipping - Case example with bulk carrier design
Mia Elg, R&D Manager at Deltamarin is presenting project CHEK, an endeavor focused on reducing carbon footprint in long-distance shipping. Through a case study bulk carrier design, the project highlights the collaborative impact of energy-saving technologies on enhancing efficiency and cutting emissions within the shipping sector.Central to Project CHEK is the development of a digital model, tailored for next-generation vessels such as the Kamsarmax and Meraviglia. This digital model draws insights from operational data of existing vessels to optimize performance and minimize emissions through advanced digital design strategies.
New business models
Yildiz Williams, Lead Marine Consultant, explores four key business model concepts - Equipment-as-a-Service, Performance Guarantees, Finance Sharing Models, and Packaged Finance Solutions. Through a detailed examination of the advantages and challenges associated with each model, she provides valuable insights into their potential applications and adaptions to enhance the rollout of CHEK technologies on a larger scale.
Wind Wings Technology
John Cooper, CEO of BAR Technologies, discusses the cutting-edge Wind Wings technology revolutionizing maritime transportation. Discover how Wind Wings are spearheading a path towards a zero-carbon future while optimizing vessel efficiency. BAR Technologies advocates for a greener and more sustainable shipping industry by unlocking the full potential of wind power.Explore beyond the realm of future newbuildings by understanding the importance of retrofitting the existing fleet for meeting regulatory requirements and reducing CO2 emissions. Embrace the Wind Wings initiative as a proactive step towards achieving carbon neutrality and showcasing the maritime sector's commitment to environmental solutions.
